Rampur: Samajwadi Party has fielded Imam Muhibullah Nadvi of Delhi’s Jama Masjid from Rampur Lok Sabha seat of UP. According to media reports, nomination papers have been sent to Rampur by chartered plane. Meanwhile, a picture of a recent meeting between Imam and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has also come to light.

Maulana Mohibullah Nadvi is originally from Rampur. According to the information, after his candidature was confirmed by SP, he reached Rampur from Delhi late on Tuesday night.

Mohibullah Nadvi can file his nomination from Rampur today, because today is the last date for filing nomination for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024.

Rampur seat was won by BJP candidate Naipal Singh in 2014. SP’s Azam Khan won from here in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

However, after Azam Khan was sentenced by the court, this seat became vacant and in the by-election held in 2022, BJP’s Ghanshyam Lodhi won from here. BJP has fielded Ghanshyam Lodhi from Rampur this time too.
